Divorce, the Musical

(Showcase Production) The scenic challenge for this production was to create a minimal set with limited budget. To accomplish this, I worked very closely with a fantastic artistic team that included a Tony-award winning costume designer, Paloma Young, and Ruthe Ponturo, a very successful Broadway producer. After 34 years of wedded bliss, reality hits Mrs. Ruthe Ponturo hard in the form of a classic mid-life cliché - her devoted husband suddenly announces that he wants a divorce. Could he be lusting after a younger woman? Does he now want to hang out at single's bars? Does his sudden weight loss reflect a steamy affair? What's a wife to do? Well if you're Ruthe, you do not crumble from heartbreak, suffer a nervous breakdown or wallow in self-pity. NO! Instead of sad, Ruthe gets mad expressing her entire divorce dilemma in 75 minutes by writing wickedly comedic songs.
