Mad Forest

Muhlenberg College’s Mad Forest is an interview-based play about the 1989 revolution in Romania created by a team of British and American artists who visited Romania months after the revolution. This tense and emotional play follows two families as they navigate through the rough terrain and rubble of pre and post-revolutionary Romania. The scenery creates both the physical and psychological space of the characters that begins as a rigid cold fortress that crumbles under the pressure of both itself and the will of the people. At the play’s conclusion, the characters are left with an uncertain future in a barren and exposed landscape full of both possibility and danger.
